  • Collapse objects to 1 object?!?

Posted by Scott Wright on January 9, 2007 at 4:25 pm

Hi there….. I’m sure this must be possible but at the moment am clueless how to do it.

I basically want to collapse a grouped object similar how you would flatten layers in photoshop, when the object doesnt need to be edited any more, and to simplify it for renders I would like to just make it 1 item with materials on.

In my example I have modelled 1 chip (for poker) then duplicated it several times, so to be able to flatten to make a stack but one object would be great.

The actual example c4d file is at:

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

    Scott

Select all your objectS/ items, then use Function –> Connect.

this kind of works, but it doesnt retain any materials, and also you have to convert all the object to editable objects too, I was hoping there may some easier way rather than having to expand all groups and subgroups?

Try ‘Current State to Object’ it also makes objects editable but it keeps textures and does the whole group automatically as it makes a duplicate.
