Codecs for Avid
Hi there, I’m using AE CS3 with Avid more and more. I have not found a good workflow yet between the apps. I’m rendering as a QT animation codec. These take an extremely long time to import into avid, because it is converting it to an omf file I believe. (We use Avid Media Composer HD) Is there a codec that can be downloaded for AE that would support avid. Thank for any help.

Here’s the link to Avid’s codec download…
You will want to render out as Avid Meridian (Compressed or uncompressed, depending upon what you need.)
Remember that your comps must be 720×486 or else the render will fail.
In any case, these import much faster. The only problem I have seen is that in CS3 if you try to render with no alpha channel,
sometimes the video ends up blank. The only solution I have found is to always render an alpha whether you need it or not.Hope this helps,
