I currently use Edius but im switching to CS4 the one thing I noticed that Edius seems to do better is handle more file types and seems to handle them better. Is there a CODEC pack I can buy for Adobe CS4 that would broaden its file import capabilitys?

Premier will handle almost all professional formats, and most Prosumer. if you are looking for something that will handle consumer stuff, you will be out of luck with Premiere.

Didn’t even know what .TOD files wee until I looked it up.

    I found this:

Sounds like you would be better off sticking to Edius 🙂

I see that the new Premiere Elements now supports .TOD files maybe Premiere Pro will soon. See I use JVC cameras GY-HD100s for my main cameras but I have the eviores for my cover shots. Edius will take the .TODs out of the box maybe i’ll use Edius to convert the files to native HDV.

I use MPEG Streamclip to batch convert these files. It will export to a wide variety of formats. Vegas will do it as well.

    Hi

With my JVC HD7 i had Cyberlink Power director. Open it and open EDIT – OPTIONS and choose an export folder. Then import your footage into the program, what you will find is that the files you have imported have been converted into MPEGS in your export folder, its the simplest way ive found so far, from there you can import into what ever software you like.
