I have some old footage that requires the LSI MJPEG Codec, from Morgan Multimedia. It has worked perfectly on CS3 and CS4, but I upgraded to CS5 yesterday. You guessed it, CS5 does not recognize the footage. Is there a trick to getting it to understand the files’ codec?

    Cheers,

    Windows or Mac?

Just a thought…if Windows, you were using a 32 bit version of the codec with CS3 and CS4. Being that CS5 is a 64-bit program, the 32 bit codec might not be compatible.

I’m running Windows 7, and I suspect that your thought on it being a 32bit codec is probably correctly identifying the problem.

Maybe, I can convert everything to Cineform, which will work in CS5.

Looks like they don’t have a 64 bit version available, so you definitely will have to transcode. Can’t go wrong with Cineform!

I emailed the developer to see if there would be a new version available, but I’m not holding my breath.

Now I have to ask myself if I should use Instant HD to up-res the footage. It was shot on 35mm, so I could redo the transfer, but that would cost some bucks that I am not interested in letting go of.
