I have a bunch of .mov files that I can’t import into PP cs4 (on a windows xp machine). I get an error message that says “codec missing or unavailable”. The files were shot with a Sony XDCam HD and then subsequently cut in Final Cut (not by me). I have shot footage with the same camera and successfully imported the files into Premiere. I do have the latest version of quicktime, but still get the error message, and when I play the files, I can hear but not see anything. I have the gspot app, but it says “rendering failed” when I try to use it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Apple doesn’t handle HDV the same as PC apps do.

This you’d need to translate the files into a common friendly codec or reingest from the tapes on the PC.

    Sorry….
