  • CODEC Metadata column in the project bin

Scott Simmons (@editblog) brought up a good question today on twitter. He asked if anyone knew how to display the codec of a clip as a column in the project window. Or anywhere for that matter. I went through all the metadata options and I cannot find any codec field available.

I was thinking I would submit it as a feature request but I wanted to check here first to see if Todd or anyone else can shed some light as to the availability of the the codec metadata.

I answered Scott on Twitter, telling him to right-click the clip and choose Properties to see codec information.

But, yes, I agree that having a column in the Project panel for this (or showing it in the preview area at the top of the Project panel, like in After Effects) would be good.

    Here’s the feature-request form:

    Any update on this?
Clicking on properties for each clip isn’t particularly helpful well when you have hundreds of clips from different sources…

Hallelujah! I just saw that this update had come out a couple days ago but had not installed yet! Just in time! Yay!
