Codec for the intermediate export
I have to transfer a clip back and forth from Adobe Premiere to After Effects, e.g. stabilizing footage in AE, then exporting it, importing into Premiere for other modifications, exporting, bringing back to AE, etc.
What is the best codec for an intermediate export of a clip in such cases? Exporting with Quicktime Animation codec produces perfect quality but huge files that are later hard to work with for my not-state-of-art laptop. However I noticed that with the H.264 codec the quality degrades quite a lot after several encodings (even when using a high value for mbps).
I am not striving for the perfection, what encoding would you recommend for a good quality/size trade-off when a video clip is encoded several times?
