    good day all

having problems with fcp 7. im running 10.6.8 on a quad-core intel xeon tower. the files are on an external drive.

when i play the 60 minute video on the timeline, sections give me deformed images/video that flickers green/blue with vertical lines at times. it will play the same distorted image in different places on the timeline. also get codec error at times.

have un-installed fcp 7. taken it to the genius bar and had the graphics card replaced twice now in the past month. hasnt rectified the issue.

the files play fine on a laptop with the external drive.

they ruled out the fire wire connection being the issue. any ideas what the hardware or software issue could be?

    thank you
    thanks

    sequence settings are
    frame size hdtv 1080i (16:9)
    pixel aspect ratio square
    editing timebase 23.98

I’m guessing you are mixing codes on the same timeline. Hopefully you are not mixing frame rates (29.97 and 23.98)

Prores is 1920×1080 and HDV is 1440×1920.

The correct way to edit would be convert the HDV footage to Prores before editing.
