I participated in a seminar at USC last week on delivering video on portable devices. It was very interesting.

I have recently begun having some video reviews in the field on my plain old everyday Motorola 551 cel phone.

I can compress the video to a .3gp format, transfer it via bluetooth from my Apple laptop to the phone, track down my client & have a review. If I remember correctly, the photo iPod & this phone have the same screen resolution.

It’s advantage over the video iPod, is that it has a built in speaker & I actually own it…

I’m with Clay on this one.

It’s kinda like our days with the MP3 list we ran, it was only a matter of time before everyone made it. Now look where we are.

I’m curious to see what will be on the shelves at christmas.

For those who do not know we were part of the MP3 push when it was nothing more than a controversy. We hosted a huge list that helped launch the MP3 revolution, and what a revolution that was. Funny thing is we were just doing it because it was a cool format and didn’t make a killing on it like Apple. Interesting enough there are still a few people we run into that remember that. It’s kinda weird, it seems like a lifetime ago……………

    Cheers,
    Ramona

Don’t get me wrong, I think the video iPod is a great idea. I think we will be developing video for HD and cel phones at the same time now…

I just wish someone would track down Job’s quote from about a year ago when the photo iPod was released of him emphatically stating that that the iPod would never be a video playback device…

I think my permanent residence is the baggage claim at the airport now. It seems to be where I am most of the time. I have been back & forth from LA over the last few weeks. I had two films screening in the Westwood Int’l Film Festival and I was on the set of Zemeckis’ “Beowulf” last week at Culver Studios. I am doing an onsite video for Honda this weekend at Dodger Stadium… busy time.

But yes Ramona, I would like to meet up with you. I was thinking you were in Northern Cal?…

[Clay Walker] “I just wish someone would track down Job’s quote from about a year ago when the photo iPod was released of him emphatically stating that that the iPod would never be a video playback device…”

I don’t think he’s convinced yet. I watched some of his interview on CNBC and he admits he does not know where or if there is a market for a video iPod. So this is a gamble for them. They will always market the iPod as an MP3 device with “video as a bonus.”

We are but like you LA is our second home. I will drop you a line next time we are in town and if you are there also maybe we can meet up.

Yes, we must be careful what we quote, one can not always predict what will be a successful venture.

    Cheers,
    Ramona
