CMYK and RGB in Photoshop
Say I open a file that is RGB and I add or copy a layer from a file that is CMYK. Does that layer automatically become RGB? Or is it when the file is saved? Or are there mixed layers in the file? Curious minds want to know. Also are there any good tutorials or reading on the differences between CMYK and RGB and how to deal with converting?

I’m enjoying Real World Photoshop CS2 by Bruce Fraser and David Blatner, it covers this stuff in pretty good detail. And they’re true to the ‘Real World’ title, they don’t prance around too much with technicalities, they tell you what works better for what and why.
