CMOS
Posted by Accountclosedduetopolicyviolations on December 22, 2005 at 11:46 amSince there are no details given at this time about CCD for Pana200,
I am hoping this camera will be supplied with 3 1/3′ CMOS chip.
I am sure new generation of Sony Z1 HDV camera will have 3 1/3′ CCD,so it would be nice if Panasonic beat Sony to it??!!

December 23, 2005 at 2:44 pmIt is a CCD, not CMOS.
And that is okay.
Happy Holidays everyone,

David,Google helped me a lot,but in short,CMOS will give You more pixels per chip, use less power and is cheaper to produce.
Anyway David, here is some more info thanx to Google again.https://www.micron.com/products/imaging/technology/advantages.html
https://www.dpreview.com/news/0512/05121201new_chips.aspI am sure Sony are testing this new technology in their low end video cameras
at the moment and in about 2year these chips(CMOS)will be more common in High End Video Camera.

Sony at this moment have an HDV single CMOS camera on the consumer market, HDRHC-1. First impressions are very good, though the camera is missing a lot of functions we have come to expect from this end of the market. I know a lot of people are using it as a location recce tool.
Scientific instruments have been using CMOS for some years now, i.e., Astronomical photography and such. The next couple of years of this emergent technology will be very interesting. -

I googled it quickly to but sometimes the “coles notes” are better.
