  • Cluster rendering?

Posted by Henry Zektser on July 13, 2005 at 4:23 pm

    Hello all,
I’m trying to render out a 3 hour sequence, and man is it slow, even on a dual G5, its on the order of 6 hours+ to render the .mov.

I have a dozen or so dual G5 boxes sitting around, is there a way to cluster them to speed up rendering? I can do it in shake, so I figure there MUST be a way in FCP…

    Any help is appreciated.

I’ve opened all of the documentation for the clustering apps and I’ll be danged if I can figure any of it out. The recent software updates included qmaster pieces. There aer no index entries or Help system entries in FCP5 on these topics.

Please let us know if you get it figured out.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

You can’t find anything in the manuals for the simple reason that the feature doesn’t exist! Compressor 2 supports cluster rendering but FCP5 does not.
