    Thanks for helping a newbie.

The effect I am looking for is to utilise the widescreen space on the tv with 4:3 video of a safari trip alongside the hundreds of stills taken

I want to have the video running on one side of the screen while in the remaining space have the photographs “rolling” up the screen with “film strip” frames.

    some key techniques I need:
    – sourcing the “film strip” frame mask
    – simplifying the process of creating continual rolling effect of the frames up the screen
    – simplifying populating the film strip frames with the hundreds of stills (I guess it will be long and tedious without some sort of short-cut / tip / experience.

Any help will be very gratefully received

    Cheers

[smoran] “- sourcing the “film strip” frame mask”

Scan it or find yourself some stock vector at or photo.

[smoran] “- simplifying the process of creating continual rolling effect of the frames up the screen”

Animate the position, the use aloopOut(“continue”) expression. Using the Motion Tile effect can work just as well.

Well, some things don’t come easily. A good place to start is to create a Photoshop action and create any number of strips you need using automation. Or simply use a template composition, duplicate it and then replace the fooatage in the timeline.
