I don’t know why this does this. But when I am reloading a video after it builds the peaks for the audio. It tries to capture the close caption of which I don’t have.

Is there a way to stop this from starting? If you cancel it in the middle it makes the project get sluggish.

    Blessings!

This is an unfortunate “side-effect” of the way Closed Captioning was implemented. I don’t think there is anything you can do about it except wait for it to complete. You might want to send a suggestion to Sony to be able to turn this off.

I’ve read that it’s only done the first time you open an older project.
To be perfectly hones, I’ve never noticed it on any old projects that I’ve opened up in Pro 10.

There is a hidden option in Internal settings. Hold down the Shift key and click Options > Preferences. Open Internal tab. Type “Enable scanning for closed caption” in the search box and switch it OFF (enter FALSE and click OK)
