    hi

i’m doing a series of animations using moGraph and cloner object. basically making a series of moving patterns similar to a gyroscope using a cloned hoop.

i’m happy with the movement and results but i want to be able to somehow render the cloned hoops as separated objects… or some way to apply a object buffer to render separate passes of each clone for compositing purposes.

any help would be really appreciated

    many thanks

    trev

    Trev,

Just put a compositing tag on the cloner object….and in the render settings click on Multi-Pass drop-down and select object buffer. Save out your multi-pass render and your regular pass render…when it renders out the scene it will make a special pass for the cloner object that you can then use in your compositing program.

    Hope that helps!

    Chris

    hi chris,

thanks for your quick response, i think i’ve tried this but i just get a pass of the entire cloner object, what I’m trying to do is get a separate pass for every separate cloned object.
is it possible to bake the hole anim and then apply object buffers to the separated objects?
hope this is making some sort of sense.

    cheers

    Hello,

I’m not sure this will help, but I’ll give it a shot:

Since C4D insists on rendering an RGBA pass for everything, I often seek to pare down render times by applying a black or white material (black or white in the luminence channel) to my objects to create an object buffer for a particular object. Doing this allows me to obtain a matte at quick render speeds. Furthermore, it outputs one image sequence, as opposed to an rgba and ob sequence.

    Ok, now to my solution:

You may be able to use some sort of multishader in MoGraph and use some sort of indexing feature to make each subsequent circle white or black, based on your individual render. I’m sorry I can’t be more specific, but I have very little experience using the multishader. Hopefully, though, this will inspire a response from someone with more knowledge in this area!

    Best,

this is an old thread – but just had to tackle this problem – so might help…

bascially use a mograph selection of the individual clone and apply a (BorW) material just to that selection – export as described…

It’s all the those pesky details :p
