    Wondering if it is possible….

    Normally when you use the clone tool, as you move the brush right, the crosshairs follow right.

    Any way to make the crosshairs move away from your anchor point? So that as you move
    the brush right, the crosshairs go left.

    Seems like it should exist. Would make coming down out of a gradient really easy.

    Yes there is a way to accomplish what you need.
    Duplicate your document A to a document B.
    Flip Horizontal Document B.
    Alt click with the clone tool to define a source point on document B.
    Clone onto document A.
