I’d like to clone a clip in the timeline like in Final Cut.

I can copy, select target track, page up/down, paste but that’s 3 steps too many. Can Premiere do this?

What are the steps in FCP? You must tell it where to put the clip, right?

    Hi,

In FCP, you just OPT-drag to another track to make a copy, and shift constrains.

I remember this method first in Commotion but I thought Premiere too. Seems like there’s got to be a shortcut for this.

In older versions of Premiere, ALT+BlockSelect copied sections of timeline using the mouse with the ALT modifier. As far as I can see, this facility didn’t make it into PPro (yet).

Pro is definitely very awkward using to me, who is so used to 6.5. Some features seem so primitive and good, Adobe decided to remove them and many users (supposed to be Pro type) do not seem to have a problem, therefore, I am beginning to think, perhaps I need to get with the flow? I just wish…

I moved to PPro from Speed Razor. Speed Razor had a lot of problems however I stuck it out for over 8 years. It is definately the best editing interface ever designed but it couldn’t keep up with the modern stuff and died.
The ability to hold down the shift key and drag a copy to another track is something that I miss a lot.
PPro is missing a number of Pro abilities but I am gambling that it will correct itself because I just purchased an HD-Axio and am already waiting for PPro2 even though I haven’t taken delivery yet.
