Clips with alpha channel in RealTime?

May 7, 2011 at 10:55 pmIs there an codec, or setting I can use to get quicktime movies with alpha channel to play over background in RealTime? (without needing to render the clip in the sequence)
project and specs below:
720×480 29.97fpsIntel Mac Pro 1,1 Quad core (circa 2006)
FCP version 7

May 8, 2011 at 2:38 amTry prores 444. Set sequence rt settings to unlimited and turn off dropped frame warnings. Animation codec might work as well. Your sequence abs bgrnd footage should be regular pro res.

May 8, 2011 at 5:18 amHe IS using FCP 7 and I have the exact same system from 2006 and it doesn’t even blink at playing back prores 444 over regular prores in a prores seqeunce. It’s not even an orange effect. It’s dark green FULL. AND I’m talking about HD. In fact, I can put a couple prores 444 layers above an hd layer in hd and still not drop any frames, although it goes from a dark green FULL effect to a bright green PREVIEW. He’s talking about SD. You’re certainly selling FCP short!
