Clips transcoded from Compact Flash card will not allow Tape recapture

Because there is no “reel” assigned to the clips, FCP won’t recapture. There simply are no tapes associated with the project.

If you want to recapture from tape, you’ll need to go in to the Reel column in your Browser and assign a tape to each clip.

Hi Walter,

Thanks for your help!
I changed to the reel name to something different but the the Log and Transfer still pops up. Now when I initially used log and transfer to bring the footage in, I did give all the clips a reel name association when in log and transfer mode. So the clips are already associated with a reel.

Have you guys found any solution to this problem? I’m having the same trouble, and even though I change the reel name (which was done when logging the clips in “Log and transfer”) it still won’t recapture.

the only thing that happens is the “log and transfer” window pops up..

Camera: Sony Z7
FCP: 6.0.6 and the latest sony plug-in I could find.

The best solution I have found is using a software called clip wrap. This converts those mpeg 2 files on the card and puts them as Quicktime HDV’s. Then you import these clips into final cut and still get to keep the timecode that was on the tape. It’s about $50 bucks and converts very fast.

Don’t use “Batch Capture” Dag, instead use the Make Offline command on your clips, then open the Log and Capture window (Cmd 8) and press the Batch button to capture the “logged” clips. See if that works.
