    Hello all,

Wondering if anyone know the answer to this. If I send a clip to soundtrack from the timeline in FCP is inports the whole source clip rather than just the clip length on the timeline. This causes problems because my tapes are logged as one whole clip so moving a full hour of audio over slows everything down.
Is there a way I can just send the selected clip over the soundtrack, not the entire source length of the clip?

    Cheers

Set an in and out point in your timeline and it will export just that part of the timeline to Soundtrack.

Craig’s right, unless you’re talking about the Send to Soundtrack Pro function? That sends the whole sound file. Only way around it is to export the audio portion of the clip and bring that into STP.

    All the best,

    Tom

    Yeah thats what I meant….
the “send to” function is what I’ve been using.

Cool, thanks for that. Thought I would have to do it that way. Thats a pity. Is that a bug? or is that a deliberate thing?

I’m new to Soundtrack, but what I’ve found is that if you send a clip from the timeline to an audio edit in ST and make changes it *destructively* changes the *original clip*. I don’t like that, so I export the clip, import it back to FCP, put it back on the timeline, then send to ST. ST changes the clip after you save, then I replace the original clip on the timeline.
