February 6, 2013 at 6:16 amI’ve bumped this as I’m having the same problem and can’t find a solution anywhere.
I am using Resolve 9.1.0lite.071, latest Cuda drivers 5.0.37 on Mac 10.8.2
Basically I’ve moved a project to this computer. The Resolve project opens up nicely, showing the existing project with grades and timelines. The media clips are all sitting in the media pool but show as black thumbnails and no picture appears in the viewer.
Any suggestions?
thanks

May 11, 2013 at 3:11 pmHi to all having the black clip syndrome.. I found something that may work for you. If at all, you have any special characters in either the folder names or the file names of your video clips, you will have the black clip issue.
The guy who handed off the videos for me to grade had a folder name with an * and an è. I changed those out. I then proceeded:
Go to my media pool under the media section in Resolve.
Test right+click and changing the parent directory. Update the name of the folder changed and voila! The clip is updated.
I selected all the remaining clips and did the same.
It then didn’t work for two additional clips, but can you guess why? One of those clips had a “é” in the name and the other had another “é” and “&” symbol. It likes to replace the “é” with a question mark in resolve — a little clue maybe?
The folder name change is updated by “Change the parent diretory”.
The file name change is updated by adding those clips back in to the media pool and then adding the clip back in the timeline. The two I had problems with automatically received their correct grading magically.Hope this “resolves” pun intended, your issues with the black clips!

May 12, 2014 at 12:35 pmI’m having this issue with Resolve 10.1.4 Lite
I’m grading a 20 minute film which was shot at Red Code 3:1.
Media is on Thunderbolt Drives – 7TB of footage.
When I open the project the thumbnails are there in the media pool but as I begin to work they start to disappear one by one over a period of time.
If I right click in the media pool and “reveal in finder” the correct clip is found – no problem.
I was having the same issue when this project was on firewire 800 drives.
I am working in Mavericks.
I have tried on three different Macs.
Please help!!!
Thanks! -
