Clip Timecode to Tape
I have a variety of clips on my timeline but when I put them to tape, I want the tape to record the clips timecode not my sequence timecode.
ie. The clip timecode is 01:08:10:00 but on the timeline the clip sits at 01:02:10:00
The next clip timecode is at 02:02:18:00 but sits at 01:03:00:00Just wondering how to go about doing this.

Not only CAN’T you do that, it is HIGHLY recommended that you DON’T do that. Why on earth would you want to do that?
Sequence code only, and via RS-422 only. You cannot get clip code to tape, unless you made LOTS of sequences that had TC that matched the clips, and you blacked the tape with the proper code for each break…ugh…messy. Can’t do this for a reason. Messssssyyy.

Sorry Shane… The post didn’t go through..
what I said was… There IS a reason to do this and that comes from using stock footage clips from a WINDOW BURNED master reel of all the clips … you pick what you want… then the company sends you a reel with the (no window burn) clips on a tape that changes timecode to the CLIP TIMECODE to match your edits.
Same with FEATURE FILMS that are unreleased.. they send you a window burned offline version and you cut in the clips you want… they will ONLY send you CLIPS from the CLEAN PICTURE MASTER and they’ll give it to you based on CLIP TIMECODE no in a linear fashion so that you don’t have to OVERCUT..
I’ll point out though… most places screw that part up and you have to overcut anyway

When stock footage companies send you this footage, they don’t output it from an edit system. They pull the tapes from the shelf and they do deck-to-deck crash records, so the time code will match.
