And to snark on your snark. With other edit systems I have to pay way more attention to whats to the right of my play head when making revisions. Something that the connected storyline lets me, for the most part, forget about!

And a little extra tip: The clip skimmer is active when the Trim, Range and Blade tools are selected. So if you want to active the clip skimmer temporarily, hold down T (or R or B) and then release when done.
