Clip names on clips in timeline
Posted by Steve Mullen on April 3, 2007 at 6:28 amIs there a way to get clips in the timeline to have visible names?

April 4, 2007 at 1:31 amThank you.
Three more, please:
1) A Bin can be set to : Tree, Region, Summary. None of them show a picon/thumbnail. How do get picons and how do you change there size?
2) Amazingly, the O or ] keys do not work in the Trimmer. The I works, but hitting O causes the in-point to move to the point where the O was pressed. Crazy!
Neither does the SPACE key to play/pause. However, I have been able to assign < as GOTO IN and > as GOTO OUT and they work fine.
3) One can choose the exact transition and drag to a clip overlap. Despite the fact you have already chosen the EXACT one you want, the parameter box opens which you have to manually close. How can this needless behavior be eliminated?

The ‘collapse loop if no selection’ is the killer.

On the Project Media tab, the options are List, Details, and Thumbnail. That’s where the “bins” are located.
I see “Tree, Region, Summary” as options in the EXPLORER window (as well as “Details” and “All Files”.) Those three are all distinct options that can be turned on or off. The Explorer screen does not show picons.

To be honest, I edit on the timeline. The trimmer does have some usefulness (if I’m looking for a small segment to fill a small hole) but I typically just drag the entire clip to the timeline, cut out what I don’t want, and then go from there. Scripting also helps in this process. I use the “Extract Good Clips” tool in Excalibur for this.

Options – Preferences – turn on the option to make the space bar “Play/Pause” instead of “Play/Stop”. Either that or use the ENTER key instead.

Hold down the SHIFT key when you drag the transition.
