Does anybody know of a built-in method or plugin that allows for the clip name to be displayed over the footage in the program monitor? A reason to use this would be if you shot a lot of footage over multiple days and wanted to export a “daily” (if you will), so you make a new sequence and drag all of that days footage onto the timeline. Then when you exported the clip names would be overlaid for quick reference.

I found a workaround in FCP 7 that worked pretty well and came in real handy for my client to scrub through one small h264 with all of that days footage and know exactly what clip to find if they liked a shot.

Not sure if you ever found a solution for this but just today I was looking for something similar and discovered that PrPro CC has a “Clip Name” plug-in. That should do the trick.

THIS. CHANGED. MY. LIFE! haha. Thanks so much!

It seems like such a simple thing to accomplish but this is the first time I’ve seen it built-in to either PP or FCP. I knew I wasn’t the ONLY person who had this request…

    Thanks again!

Can’t seem to find it on the Adobe CC site, it just lists all the third party companies that make plugins…

Search for “Clip Name” in the Premiere Pro CC Effects tab.

Thanks much! Seems the problem was that I thought the they had me on CC as we just joined the service. Turns out I’m still on CS6 so my mistake. Thanks again for the prompt response and info! Have a great day.
