  • Clip IN and OUT times missing

Just starting to digitize using the Log and Capture method and everything seems to be fine EXCEPT once I’ve logged some clips the Batch Capture command gives me an error code saying it can’t find the Time Code. Time Code is, however, coming into the system… but I’ve noticed it’s only appearing under the Media Start and Media End columns for each clip. The In and Out columns show as Not Set. I’m suspect i’ve overlooked something but not sure what.

Any help appreciated. I’m feeding HDV/DV out of a Sony HVR-Z7U thru the Firewire 400 port into a G5 Dual running 10.4.1

Are you sure you have enough preroll?

I should – I’ve tried this several times, usually pulling the clips from the middle of the scene, so there should be plenty of additional scene in front for pre-roll. OR – is pre-roll something that needs to be set somewhere?

Then probably the deck is not accurate enough.
Manually wind to a few seconds before the inpoint and try again.

Yes, it sucks, yes you should get a HVR 1500 and control it over 422…

My advice, ingest entire reels and be done with it.

In and out are set in the viewer. Not in log and capture. If you digitize with handles, in and out will be set ad the same in and out from log and capture. But if there\’s no handles, then there\’s no point in having an in and out as it\’s the same. They could go ahead and set them, but it is useful to see if you\’ve viewed a clip and set in/out points or not.
