Hey all. I’m using MC 5 with a Matrox MXO2 Mini. It’s outputting to a consumer-grade Sony LCD TV.

Unfortunately, the processing in the TV causes a delay in the picture and sound. So sound is out of sync when I monitor through my monitor speakers and watch on the TV or if I watch on my computer and monitor sound through the TV speakers.

Obviously, if I had a professional broadcast monitor that had a Ref Sync and black burst generator, and oh yeah, an $8000 Mojo DX, this wouldn’t be an issue.

Just wondering if anyone out there has a similar setup, has had this issue, and/or knows a way around it.

I’ve tested this extensively, and it’s definitely the TV that’s causing the delay.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

    Uli

I’m on Nitris DX and via HDMI to a Samsung monitor there is also a delay of about 1 frame.

The issue is with the delay in the consumer monitor, not the hardware or editing system. You can get audio delay devices, and even consumer amplifiers have audio delay in the them to compensate for broadcast out of sync issues. The challenge is that you are using two reference monitors that are not in sync to a single audio source. One way is to split audio to each device, and use a switcher/mixer to decide which audio stream to listen to – with added delay on the one if needed.

HDMI is notorious for causing this delay

    Justin,

Are there any work arounds for this that you have come across?
