Cleaning up “fast moving” video
Hey guys! I have no idea of the terminology for this, but I shot some action video (ATVs) with my Canon 7D and it comes across with those kinda choppy, vertical lines like the picture can’t keep up with the video… it also happens when I pan too fast… does that make sense? If so, what is that called? I’m trying to fix it in Sony Vegas, but don’t really know where to start. I’m also testing out the Boris effects, if that might help… Any thoughts?

In your project properties, set the deinterlace method to blend. Render your output and see if the problem remains.

Are we taliking about the jelly effect, I don’t think SV stabilizer would fix this but I’m pretty sure there is a plug in from boris or some one that can fix this.

How do you use the rolling shutter correction? Also- when I’m shooting sports should I be set to 30 frames or 60?

I think it’s pretty easy to use.
Here is a you tube video showing the stabilizer plug in being used and you can see a tick box for the rolling shutter correction.
You can use 30 frames per second, but depending on how fast the action is maybe have the shutter speed between 100th or 200th of a second. 60fps is good if you intend on slowing it down later but it will only be 720p if your shooting with a 7d.
