We’re delivering a show in DVCPROHD (1280X1080)1080i 29.97 and just received some raw footage in XDCAM EX (1920X1080) 1080p30. What’s the cleanest route (not terranex) we can do in house to convert this footage(FCP/Compressor/After Effects?). It will be combined with DVCPROHD 1080i 29.97 footage on like timeline in FCP 6.0.5 This is posted in FCP PRO forum as well. Many thanks for your knowledge!

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Chris,

I convert HQ 1080p 30 EX footage to DVCPRO HD footage quite often.

    • 1. new sequence
    • 2. drag the DVCPRO HD stuff to the seq.
    • 3. drag the EX stuff in. FCP will conform the footage to match seq. settings.
    • 4. edit.
    • 5. export self-contained .mov using seq. settings. Rendering or not beforehand is optional because FCP will render on export. If you render first then export you’ll have render files taking up space. Your choice.
    • 6. If you want a 720p version of your project choose: Export Using QT Conversion. Choose 1280×720 DVCPRO HD and let ‘er rip.

    I’ve been loving the result.
