I did a search trying to find the answer, but not sure how to describe exactly what I want, so my search results did not help much.

I am using Vegas Pro 10.

I want to focus on a small part of what is showing on the screen and have that part very clear, and the rest of what is on the screen to be grayed out. I see it on TV frequently, e.g., when the cops are chasing a car, and we see that car very visibly inside a circle, and the rest of the screen is grayed out. Any help is appreciated. Jim

You can accomplish this with a piece of Sony Color Gradient Generated Media. Choose the Elliptical Gradient Type and create three points that are very close together. You place this on a track over the video that you want to highlight and you keyframe the position by moving it by the + in the center.

    • The first point should be transparent
    • The second point should be whatever color you want the circle to be (I use yellow)
    • The third point should be semi-transparent Black (which will look gray and dim the rest of the image outside the circle).
