i’m thinking of picking up a used formatt matte box. the seller is including a 4×4 polarizer.

in the past, when i’ve used a polarizer it was always a circular polarizer. i then “dialed away” the offending glare by turning the front element of the filter.

would would i be able to “dial away” the glare w/a 4×4 polarizer filter?

thanks in advance to those who care to share.

    be well

Probably, if he has been using a polarizing filter with that box… then that particular box probably has a rotating filter stage (many boxes do, although not all matte boxes). Assuming that’s the case, you put the filter in the tray, put the tray in the matte box… and rotate the stage at will, just like you did with an on-the-lens circular filter. Much easier, in fact.
