  • Cinetools Pull list and EDLs Question..

Posted by Seawild on November 20, 2006 at 7:55 pm

    Hello Guys,

I am wondering if CineTools can export a list that has both Keycode and Source Timecode information… I have heard different things on this..

We are scanning and conforming a 16mm Sundance Film that was edited on FCP 5.

Dailies were done to DVcam with 24/29TC and keycode burn in.

    Thanks so much, Chris

    Did some searching.

I think that if; an ale log and a FLX file was imported into Cinetools 3 and then imported into FCP 5.1 successfully and the editing was done using these clips from the ALE & FLX files, created from the telecine… there should be no problem exporting a EDL with key and source TC back to Cinetools 3 and creating 23.98 EDLs with source TC and KC, (maybe bins?). I’ll want to create an MS Excel tab file? as well as something we can import into Filemaker?, Looks like Cinema Tools 3 can also create a negative cut list as well.

    got link?.

I think I understand the problem a little better..

This is roughly what I need from an EDL-

    Foot/ Duration/First-Last Key/ Start TC/ Tape#/LRoll/CRoll/Clip Name

    1677 163 EH 56 7015-6141+02 05:36:34:10 VT001 AIR74 C132 50A(c)

This is what FCP kicks out –

Shot Time Duration Keycode In Frame Out Frame Roll Clip name

    002 02:00:08:00 00:13:25 EB 73 6343 9660&14 9677&05 A66 25C-4PU

So it would seem take FCP can NOT create an EDL that has both Keys and Tape #….

So my question is now how do I merge the two EDLs into one? Or can this actually be done now with Cinetools 3?

Also can FCP output “Duration” as frames only?

    Thanks, Chris
