Cinescore Studio 1.0c can not start

I uninstalled and reinstalled the software. In addition to the standard uninstall, you have to manually delete the Sony folders on your hard drive and delete the Sony registry entries:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Media Software
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Media Software
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Creative Software

This is what I found:

1) Vegas executes properly on either the C or D partition of my primary drive.
2) DVD Architect executes properly on either the C or D partition of my primary drive.
3) Cinescore Studio executes properly only if the plugins folder is on the C partition of my primary drive.

It would appear that the Sonly developers have a hard coded path to the C: drive somewhere in the Cinescore plugin.

I consider this issue closed. Thanks to all who responded to the call.

hadn’t even considered you might not be performing a ‘normal’ installation. Have to add that to the list of questions in the future.

It shouldn’t matter, but that’s not important.
The first hint was when I installed the software from the downloads. If you specify D as the location for the setup software, it fails to execute at all.

I was waiting to bother with the entire sequence again until Sony suggested it.

Vegas and DVD Architect ran perfectly on D, and they continue to do so. The plugin directory must be on C.

All of my other software runs perfectly where ever I install it. There have been installations where I am not given a choice, and it goes on C because the developers either want it there or neglected to give me a choice for some reason.

There isn’t any reason why it should not run where I put it except that there is a fully qualified path to the C drive somewhere. Heaven forbid I install it other than C:\Program Files\Sony\…

The sky might fall.

But, reality rules the day.

Hi,

Does anyone have a different solution for this problem?

My cinescore is installed on drive c under windows server 2008. I have tried installing multiple times, including once under a fresh install of windows.

Vegas Pro, ACID pro and a couple of DAWS work just fine. The only problem is with cinescore and its error 6 when I try to “generate music”

My problem was solved when I installed Cinescore on the C drive. Any deviation from the predetermined installation script may cause it not to work.

I see from your post that you also have installed the app on your C drive. If you tried to customize the installation in any way, you may want to try yet again and let it go it’s own way.

I have the exact same error problem with Cinescore and Sony Tech support will not respond.

Because this bug only affects a small number of configurations; it might be easy to track down through a process of differential diagnosis.

So, my question is: Are you also using a Quad Core PC? An SSD RAID array? No memory paging swapfile? Or anything unusual?

My issue was resolved when I installed the application on the C drive. I was trying to install on another drive. Cinescore must have a hard coded path to the C drive somewhere.
