is cinema tools a proper way to change(rev-telecine) 1080i 60 24pa from the hvx-200 to a 23.98 frame rate to edit in 24 progressive for a film out of post?

In FCP 5.1 it’s automatically done on import.

    Noah, have you tried this?
I have a backlog of 1080 24pA footage that was shot with my HVX. I finally got my 5.1 in, does not remove the pulldown from 1080 24pA footage. I have tried every convolution. I set-up a 1080 23.98 sequence. Import from P2, click checkbox
to remove pulldown. I get a nice interlaced frame every forth frame.
You can import with the box not clicked, same thing. I tried importing with the box checked and unchecked with every different pulldown in set-up. It all looks the same.

You can import the footage and then use Cinema Tools to remove the pull-down.

I also have Edius. I can import the same 1080 24pA file directly from the P2
and remove the pull-down and it looks great. So for now I use Edius to
process 1080 24pA footage shot with the HVX.

Hi Mike, I’ve had the same experience with FCP 5.1..EVERYONE says just select the box on import but it does not work. What does work is select a clip in your timeline and then pull down tools and select “cinema tools reverse telecine”. This is really easy and works perfectly; apple really needs better documentation on this because I’ve checked around everywhere and no one has been able to tell me how to do it. I found it by sweat and tears.
