  • Cinema desktop preview doesn’t work! in FCP HD

    Hi you wizzes!
I got a new G5 Dual 2.3 with 1.5G of ram. and am running a super small project in FCPHD. Each time I try to preview the timeline edit in the full screen mode, it just shows us the first frame from the selection and freezes there. No sound just a still frame. What can I do? I thought these new babies were supposed to be made for video.

    Using 10.4? There’s a problem there.

what do you mean? There is a problem running 10.4 and FCP HD? Do I have to go FCP5 for the display option? I read another post about the same problem but all i get are speculations. Nothing is resolved. My CPU is brand new and just installed FCP. This project is the first that I work on.
    Thanks

There seems to be a problem with FCP4.5 and desktop cinema under Tiger, though it may be a QT7 problem, I’m not sure.

    Have you upgraded to 10.4.1?

The issue seems to be related to Quick Time 7. I visited the Apple website and went to the discussions. From what I read it apparently has to do something with a missing desktop component file. There is a sollution to this, though somewhat akward. Place your mouse cursor over the play button in the canvas. Don’t move the mouse or anything. Next press Command-F12 then click on the mouse. This issue is non-existent in FCP 5. Let me know if this works.
