    Hi-

    I’m wodering if anybody knows of compression software such as Cinema Craft Encoder SP (of similar softare of equal quality) that exists for the Mac/OSX?

    MainConcept has more options than Cinema Craft and is similar in speed.

    How do you think it stands up in quality?

    I really like the quality and actually prefer it to Cinema Craft. Though I should state that I have never been that fond of using Cinema Craft and much prefer to use ProCoder for encoding MPEG-2 on a PC.

    I’m wondering though, what kind of programs the studios use to compress and author “hollywood movies”? They usually look so good? I understand obviously that they’ve been shot on 35mm and are lit well (most of the time)…. but it’s more than that.
    Someone mentioned a 6 pass encode? that’s a lot… way more than 2 (compessor and others).
    what kinds of programs do six pass?
