  • Cinema 4D shortcuts HELP!!!

    Heeelp!

    I’m new to C4D and I’m really having difficulties finding my way around project settings, preferences etc.

    Somehow I’ve disabled shortcuts for rotate, move, zoom around in my scene.
    I used the numbers 1,2 and 3 before, but now nothing happens and I have to use the icons in the windows instead…

    Can anyone tell me what to do in order to specify shortcuts?

    I’m desperate and I know this is the most basic of basics…but there you go!

    Right-click on any icon and choose “command manager” from the pop-up menu. The command manager lists every command in Cinema and it allows to you assign shortcuts. So, for example, type “rotate” in the name filter and it will list all the commands with the word rotate in them. One of them is “rotate camera”. Select that, type 3 in the shortcut box, and click the assign button.

    Something must be corrupted. If you haven’t already I’d restart Cinema and try in a fresh scene. Otherwise, try this:

    * go to Preferences>Common;
    * at the bottom of the window you’ll see, “your preferences are stored here”. Click the Open Folder button;
    * navigate to the preferences folder and delete the file shortcuttable.res (you may have to close Cinema first).

    That’s the file where shortcut keys are stored. When you delete it, the next time you start the Cinema it will generate a new file with default shortcuts.

    Thanks a bunch Adam…I’ll try that..if it doesn’t work I’ll just install the whole beauty all over…that should do the thing I guess (and hope).

    This happened to me the other day and I fixed it (after loosing a lot of hair) by resetting the Pram on my computer.

    Hey Adam,

    I know this thread’s old, but I just ran across this problem. I stepped out for lunch and when I came back my 1,2,3 nav buttons wouldn’t work. I work on a wacom tablet so I use it a lot. Every other function is fine. I tried deleting the preferences in the prefs folder, I tried playing with the hotkey codes and nothing… This has never happened to me.

    I do not know how to go about resetting my PRAM as you guys spoke about. Will this affect any other functions outside of C4D?

    Thanks! Any help would be great! This is the most bizarre issue….

    The best work around is:
    1. Copy all the stuffs inside “Objects” window.
    2. Create a new empty file and save the empty file in the same directory as your current one so that all textures are linked correctly.
    3.Paste the stuffs in the new file. All shortcuts should work now.

    This happens to me a few times. File is corrupted and there is no other way to fix it except copy and paste all objects in a new document.
