Hello, I recently faced a huge problem, which I encountered several times by now and was never able to fix.
Every time I’m making a large project’ with hair and many polygons, every thing works fine until I close it.
When I try to open it and keep working, cinema 4d will load – but it will not respond to anything, meaning I cannot keep editing nor rendering.
It happened to me too many times – someone must have fount a way to fix this without starting every project from scratch if this happens…
I’m currently using Cinema 4D R18, but this also happend when I used R17 and R16.
    Thanks for reading
P.S. english is not my primary language, sorry if I made mistakes…

Me too. We think it’s C4D’s paging file (assuming Windows). It seems to take a few restarts and some time sitting with cinema open but no file loaded for it to clear the file out of both ram and the drive. And with lots of polys that file can be huge. With 128 gb of ram we have seen the paging file reach 4 times that size. If your hard drive is fragmented or doesn’t have enough space for it, that increase the time it takes to clear.

So what should I do? I already started defragmentation when I posted this question

Have you tried removing the mesa folder?
    (c:/Program files/maxon/maxon cinema 4d r18/resource/libs/win64)

I had a similar problem and this fixed it. might work for you too.

    cheers,

Thanks for answering, but it didn’t work… I also completely uninstalled and reinstalled Cinema 4D and it still not working…
