    Hello

I’m exporting camera data from C4D so that I can comp. a rendered 3d model with a ground plane generated in AE. The major issues I’m experiencing are that the camera field of view as imported into AE doesn’t seem to relate to the C4D camera – the AE camera fov seems to be far too wide. Having fixed that by setting the AE fov to match the fov of the C4D camera, there seems to be a discrepancy between the start and end of the sequence – I have to enter a z rotation to the ground plane in order to get a reasonable match.

    Thanks in advance,

    Neil

    Hey Neil,

When you import the “.aec” file which has the camera data from C4D. You shouldn’t have to create another camera in AE, you should use the camera from C4D. All you have to do is match up the layer in 3D to the camera from C4D. Hope this will help you.

Yep, I know that and that’s what I’m doing. I’m leaving the rendered 3d model as a normal 2d layer and using the imported camera from C4D to view the 3D layer I’m generating in AE. I’m positioning that (3D generated) layer using the co-ordinates from C4D. Any ideas? Thanks anyway !

    Hey Neil,

I’m having the exact same problem. The 3D objects that I’m integrating into the scene in After Effects never seem to match the C4D rendered plate. There always seems to be some kind of perspective shift – either the object is too far on the Z axis or the camera FOV is off. Frankly,I’m stumped.

I tried assigning the External Compositing tag to a variety of objects before exporting the 3D data from Cinema 4D, but I’ve had no luck so far.

Let me know if you get a breakthrough.
