I transcoded footage from my hmc150 with neoscene at high quality as playback with native files were difficult. However I’ve found that now the footage is VERY choppy and will freeze just for about 3-4 seconds intermittently. I made my timeline/sequence specs to match my footage which is 1080 24p. I get a yellow bar above my footage however it doesn’t require rendering. I don’t know why I’m getting EXTREMELY choppy payback as my system should be able to more than handle it. Any hep would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    System specs:
    xp64 bit
    4 gigs ram
    2 hdd 1: 120 Programs 2: 500 Data (both-7200rpm)
    3 ghz dual core processor
Nvidia quadro fx 560 graphics card
    CS4

First, XP64 is not a recommended OS for CS4 by Adobe.

The Cineform files are very high bitrate and require fast hard drives. The size of your hard drives may indicate they are older/slower IDE drives, not SATA. I assume your Cineform files are on the 500 GB drive which may be badly fragmented and/or over 75% full which can slow things down further.
Suggest adding another 1 TB SATA drive.

if you are gonna spend money on newer drives, (i had the same prob as you, old drives that were slow) look at gettin a G-technology G-Raid. $204 at B&H photo.com It is a 1TB Raid-0 enclosure. Run it into an e-sata card and you are set.

I bought one and I love it. Just my humble opinion though.

I’m definitely going to look into that because I’ve tried everything I can think of, defragmenting both drives, clearing about 60% off my drives, making sure all my drivers are up to date ensuring I do indeed have sata not ide. Sad thing is, native files from my hmc150 edit slightly smoother then cineform (though neither is at all smooth in the least) then there’s the freezing up and having to close premier and restart. I always thought cineform was suppose to be great though I’m sure I’m missing something. Maybe transcoding on high is too much for my system?
Maybe my system can’t handle HD
All the system is used for is editing, It literally has cs4 and some other necessities on it, and that’s it, been editing SD smooth as butter for a while now…
    I’m at such a loss…..
Is there a preset for cineform transcoded files for premier cs4?
Is there perhaps a setting in neoscene I skipped over?
