Cineform Raw Color Correction?
I am working with Cineform RAW 2k files and I do not want to use the .look files created while shooting on set.
If anyone is familiar with the process for adjusting .look files in Premiere Pro with Prospect 2k (or aspect, etc) you know it can be very difficult to match shots since the adjustment process only lets you view the one clip you are adjusting. We are working with stereoscopic images that need to be precisely matched and this color workflow does not… well, flow.
I am looking for a solution that allows me to access the RAW file in after effects and apply color matrix data.
So far all I’ve been able to do is turn .look information on or off in after effects. it seems to me that regardless of this option I am color correcting footage with less image detail/information. if i turn the look off, i’m just boosting an image with no saturation. if i turn the look on, i’m forced to work with the contrast levels created while shooting.
I was under the impression that I would have a way to color correct straight from the raw file & have access to all the latitude I saw on set & now it seems like I’m stuck doing incremental tweaks to the .look files in premiere & augmenting that with filters in after effects. Is there a more intuitive way to work from the raw up?
I apologize if this post is unclear or sounds like a rant- I’m very happy with the images captured in cineform raw, but I don’t quite understand how to work with it in post in a way that is efficient.
Any tips are greatly appreciated!
