    Hello. I have VPro9 x32 and x64 installed on Vista 64.

I was having some weirdness with Cineform NeoScene (I forget what). I downloaded and installed the latest version of NeoScene (v1.3.2, build 117). I converted my AVCHD files, but I only got a video track on VP9x64, while I could not use it at all on VP9x32.

Cineform recommended downloading and installing AC3Filter, so I did that (full version). There was already some AC3Filter installed, but I over-wrote it. Now I get audio only on x64, while I get both audio and video on x32. (I uninstalled and reinstalled NeoScene again, but I still have the same weirdness: audio only on VP9x64, while VP9x32 works).

Whatever the deal is, it looks like AC3Filter made the symptoms change. So my question is, what exactly is AC3Filter anyway, and is there a different/better version that I can use to make the problem go away, so I can use Cineform with VP9x64?

That’s strange. You should not need to add any AC3 filter. I have installed Neo Scene on a new Vista 64 OS with just Vegas Pro 9.0 64-bit and it worked fine with no other software. Try re-installing Vegas just to re-establish it’s own AC3 filter.

    OK.

Do I also need to reinstall PA?

No, I would re-install Vegas without uninstalling. Just have it do a repair if it can or just another install.

OK, I uninstalled and reinstalled everything, but still no video. So I wrote Cineform, and they wrote:

    >>You probably need the 64 bit version of Neo Scene. It is currently in beta and you can get it here:

Dohh!! I just downloaded the latest thing from their page, and assumed that v1.3.2 also included 64 bit functionality. (That is what I get for assuming….)

    They also said:

    >>it will install over the 32 bit version. but all 32 bit support will still be there so just install it and you should be fine.

    It didn’t work.

    Now I have video-only in both VPro9x32 and VPro9x64!

No audio with converted Cineform files at all.

Sorry that didn’t work out for you. I’m not sure what’s going on with your PC as I had none of those problems on a new install of Vista 64 and Vegas Pro 9.0 with Neo Scene. I guess you need to install that AC3 filter again but I did not have to do anything like that.

I wrote Cineform, so we’ll see what they say.

I’m starting to get the impression that different PC configurations have different ‘issues.’ Is that your experience as well?

This is exactly what drives people to buy a Mac. 😉 With all the possible hardware that can be assembled to make a PC there are no two PC’s that behave exactly the same.
