    Hi all,

I’ve always stuck with DnX and Prores for offline work, but I’m seeing more and more people post online that Cineform is actually a decent way to go. According to a few posts I’ve now read, Cineform will playback via the computers GPU. This could of course be nonsense, but if it isn’t is the codec agnostic? I use the Mac Pro trashcan, which has 2 x AMD Firepro cards running, but so far, have only seen evidence that the GPU playback will happen using Cuda. Will AMD also be able to playback cineform files, and will it happen inside of a PP timeline?

    Thanks in advance.

[Ken Eakins] “According to a few posts I’ve now read, Cineform will playback via the computers GPU.”

    CineForm encode/decode is CPU-only.

The CPU plays back the video files. The GPU handles the special effects (most of them). Having said that the Cineform codec should work OK.
