I’ve got to give a number a nice glossy chrome look. The reflections have to have a simple 2 colour look and also move. I’m lost with ideas on this one. I’m thinking this would be something to be done by invigorator (?) but I’m not sure. If I can avoid buying this plug in that would be ideal.
Would something like fractal noise get me there?

    thankyou

Fractal noise would do it, or how about a blurry video?

    Reflection maps
    in 3D apps
    are often simple shots,
    so shoot some vid
    and hey, you kid,
    you’ll make some nifty spots.

In other words (preferably) ref maps can be simple desert-sky-horizon images, possibly distorted to account for warps in the material. If you use fractal noise, lower the complexity and increase the scale to make it less regular. Maybe apply colorama and tweak. Shoot some chrome to see what it looks like … but you know it’ll just be a reflection of its surroundings, yes?
