I just shot a bunch of green screen miniDV footage (talking head) I was hoping to use in Premiere. The chromakeys are UGLY! Very jagged edges and little to no control over the key. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Chromakey in Pro on DV footage can be challenging. Try using a 16 point garbage matte first to get rid of the bulk of the background.
After Effects has much better tools for this.

Green Screen will do slightly better than the Chroma Keyer in my opinion…at least the edges aren’t so chewed up.

I am with Mike on this…AE has better facilities for this.

Otherwise, if you don’t want to get AE, Serious Magic has a very good color keyer that is a standalone app. Most really decent color keyers that will plug into Premiere Pro cost as much or more than the software itself does…

bring your project to AE 6.5, then apply Heu/Sat effects and reduce the saturation. Then apply “Color Diff” effects, and that will remove 95% of green from the back. then add “spiller” effects to remove rest of the 5%. Congratulations! you got yourself a perfect green screen solution for that was shot in bad lighting condition.
