I posted this over in Kona Land as well.

If I ingest HDV footage through a kona 3 or a Kona LHi to Prores for an online, is the chroma smoothed on the way in? We will be capturing through HDSDI. I would like to know if I need to add Graham Nattress’s chroma smoothing filters when I get to Color to grade my show.

    Thanks,

    Hi james,
The Chroma filtering is done in the video card.
BTW if your footage is 422 you nee to export 444 to make the chroma Smoothing works.
I mean that if you apply Chroma Smoothing to Proress footage, it works only if you export Proress 444 or AJA 10b Unc.
If you export any 422 flavor it doesn’t works.
    Cheers,
    rafael

Thanks for the info. I did not know about the 444 wrinkle.
