I understand how to tweak the glow around my subject while chroma keying in FCP, but what are some tips when shooting against a green screen.
Are there ways to prevent the glow from happening in the videotaping stage?

    Thanks

One tip is to back-light the talent with a light gelled in the “opposite color” of the chroma-key color.

    Blue-screen: Yellow back-light.

    Green-screen: Orange back-light.

Also, keep the talent far in front of (and separately-lit) from the flat-lit background.

I’ve never heard of the gel trick, but it sounds interesting. And since I’ve got the gels, I’ll try it next time.

My only piece of advice is to make sure that the subject is well lit and that you white balance at their mark so you can get a good shot. So long as the background is lit separately, and relatively evenly, and far away, you’ll be fine.
