I’m having trouble getting a good key from my DV green screen footage.
Subject is african american, and shot head to toe with very little movement.
The problem is very noticable green reflected light on his head and shoulders.

In hindsight, the solution would probably be more seperation between subject and background,
but are there any proceedures, tricks, plugins, Etc. that will improve the look of my existing video?!?!

    Thanks for the help!

dv is hard to key in the first place but try using the matte choker and or spill supressor plug-ins. the spill supressor will help reduce the green screen reflection on your subject and the choker will help you fine tune the matte around your subject. good luck!

Check out DV Matte blast. Keying with DV is hard enough, this might help you out. https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/review_dv_matte_blast_douglas.html

For some reason I was having trouble getting good search results. Can’t remember exactly what I did differently last time, but voila – I got lots of threads!
I knew this topic must have been covered pretty well.

I got a lot from Kevin Monahan’s article

    I’m also looking at dvMatte.

    Thanks all, for your responses!

If you have Motion, try keying the shot there, & then you can import the motion project into FCP & drop it into your timeline. Motion has Primatte, which is a very good keyer. You can also buy a version of DV Garage’s keyer for motion.

DVMatte Pro for FCP is very easy to use and VERY good, and DVmatteBlast in Motion will blow you away. Very easy.

    Have a wonderful day.

dvmatte is your best bet for 4:1:1 video or miniDV. Nattress has a few plug-ins that may also aid in obtaining good chromakeys, provided your green screen scenes had proper lighting
