  • Chroma Key Settings when Subject has Wispy Blond Hair

I shot a subject in front of a green screen (farily well lit (read: shadows not glaringly visible)), but the subject has very fair skin and wispy blond hair. In dialing down the Chroma Key settings I can’t get the green 1 to 2 pixel halo to totally go away without looking like I’ve matted down her hair.

    Current settings:
    Similarity: 37%
    Blend: 11%
    Threshold: 32.5%
    Cutoff: 30%

Did I simply shoot this too hot?

Are there any workarounds to salvage?

    Thanks in advance.

Note for next time. When shooting someone with blonde hair, a blue screen is best. Blonde hair contains some green.

Maybe try throwing some Color Correction in the mix…possible adjusting the levels first, and then maybe attempt to very slightly change the color in highs and mids?

No kidding. Yes, shows what a noob I am on this front.

While waiting I did just that; actually used the Color Key Effect with the Edge Feather set to 10. Still gave her a bit of a hair cut, but I think she might actually like the slimming effect. 🙂

    Thanks to everyone.
