    Hi,

I have a shot in a film which the top half is the sky, and the bottom half the ground. I have another shot, which is of someones face and I am wanting to merge it “in the clouds” of the previous shot.
The only trouble is – the shot of the face was not shot on a blue screen, so the only way I can figure out how to do it is to export a frame of the face, cut out the background in photoshop and then place it in premiere.

The only trouble is – it looks kinda lame, as it is a static image.

Is there any way of doing it (in either premiere 6.5 or pro) or do I need some additional software to get the results I want?

    Thanks

Have you tried the 16-point garbage matte in combination with the chroma key?

BTW, for chroma keys I suggest to use Ultra-2.

Or you may want to create a soft edged matte (blurry white area for the face and black for the composition you want to cut out) and track-matte it. If you want the face in the clouds, full opacity may not be desirable either…

    Hi again.

Many thanks for the help. The 16point garbage matt seems to be fine, is there a way to add more points for finer detail, or a different effect which achives the same results, but with more control?
